In the building inspection industry, Building Structural Hazard Assessment involves a comprehensive investigation, testing, and analysis of the foundation, substructure, load-bearing structure, and enclosure structure of a building, based on national standards (such as JGJ125-2016 "Standard for the Assessment of Dangerous Buildings"). It aims to comprehensively evaluate the building's safety level (A, B, C, D grades) and propose treatment suggestions such as reinforcement, repair, or demolition to ensure safe use. This typically involves on-site inspection, instrument testing, structural calculations, and report preparation.

Assessment Process and Content

1. Commissioning and Investigation: Determine the scope of the assessment (e.g., foundation, structure, components) based on the client's requirements, collect original building data, and conduct a preliminary on-site inspection.

2. Scheme Development: Develop a detailed testing, investigation, and analysis plan based on the on-site conditions.

3. On-site Testing: Inspect the current condition of the building, including tilt, deformation, cracks, corrosion, and water damage. Instruments (such as inclinometers and crack gauges) are used for testing when necessary.

4. Structural Analysis and Verification: Analyze the load-bearing components and the overall structure, using instrument test data to verify structural load-bearing capacity.

5. Danger Level Assessment:

• Foundation Danger: Assess whether the foundation is in an unstable state (e.g., sliding, settlement).

• Component Danger: Divided into dangerous components (Td) and non-dangerous components (Fd).

• Floor Danger: Divided into Au, Bu, Cu, Du, etc. (Au indicates no dangerous points, d indicates overall danger).

• Building Danger: The final comprehensive assessment is categorized into four levels: A (safe), B (basically safe), C (significant danger), and D (dangerous building).

6. Report Preparation: Issue an assessment report that meets the specifications and provide treatment suggestions (e.g., repair, reinforcement, monitoring, or demolition).

Assessment Objectives

• To assess the current safety status of the building and determine whether it meets safety requirements.

• To provide a scientific basis for the reinforcement, renovation, repair, or demolition of the building.

• To meet the assessment requirements of laws and regulations, government regulations, or changes in the external environment (such as surrounding excavations).

Scope of Application

• All types of industrial, civil, and public buildings, including high-rise and historical buildings. • Applicable to situations such as when a building shows significant damage or deformation, exceeds its designed lifespan, undergoes a change of use, or after a natural disaster.
